KTM, the Austrian bike manufacturer, has thrilled the bike industry in India by launching the Dukes and the RCs. These machines are a complete package for any bike enthusiast and they come at a pretty good price. Earlier this year KTM upgraded the Duke 390 with a slipper clutch without charging any extra money for it. This made the RC 390 feel left out. So, KTM has now decided to upgrade the upcoming 2016 RC 390 with features which will make it more desirable and exotic.


The 2016 KTM RC 390 will be getting a slipper clutch which will make sure that the rider can down shift aggressively to tackle corners without letting the rear wheel slide. The cornering junkies would be very pleased with this addition. Then we have the Ride by Wire technology which will be equipped in the 2016 KTM RC 390. This will make the throttle response crispier than before and also increase the fuel efficiency. The third and the biggest change in the new RC 390 is the all new side mounted aluminium exhaust. KTM has got rid of the under belly unit that is presently handling duties on the Dukes as well as on the RCs. The reason behind opting for a traditional side mounted exhaust is to comply with the Euro 4 emission norms. KTM has also increased the size of the front disc brake from 300mm to 320mm and this time the braking system has been developed by Brembo, so the braking performance of the new KTM RC 390 would be better.

Apart from these KTM hasn’t made any significant changes to the motorbike. Yes, the rear view mirrors on the new RC 390 are bigger to provide a larger view of what’s coming from behind. Other than that the rest of the bike looks exactly the same. KTM has also left the engine and specs of the new 2016 RC 390 untouched. The bike will continue to extract power from a 373cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine that churns out a whopping 43.5 PS of max power and generates 35 Nm of peak torque. The top speed of the RC 390 is just short of 180 kph.

The RC 390 is a pure track machine and with the improvements that the company has made, it just got better. The 2016 RC 390 will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan facility and will also be exported to the rest of the world. It is being expected that the bike will be launched in India somewhere early in 2016. As far as the price of the new RC 390 is concerned, we are anticipating it to cost a bit more premium than the current model because of the new added features.
